Troy School District Graduation Requirements

English (4 credits):        
  • 9 Literature and Composition 1 and 2 (1 credit) or Honors English 9 (1 credit) 
  • 10 Literature and Composition 1 and 2 (1 credit) or Honors English 10 (1 credit) 
  • 11 Literature and Composition (0.5 credit) and English elective (0.5 credit) or AP English 11 (1 credit)
  • 12 Literature and Composition 1 and 2 (1 credit) or AP English 12 (1 credit)
Science (3 credits):
  • Intro to Biology (1 credit) 
  • Chemistry or Active Chemistry or Physics or Introductory Physics (1 credit each)
  • Science elective (1 credit)
Social Science (3 credits):
  • World History/Geography 1  (0.5 credit)
  • American History/Geography 1 and 2 (1 credit)
  • Economics (0.5 credit) and Government/Civics (0.5 credit)
  • World History/Geography 2 (0.5 credit)
Mathematics (4 credits):
  • Algebra 1 (1 credit) or Honors Algebra 1 (1 credit)
  • Geometry (1 credit) or Honors Geometry (1 credit)
  • Algebra 2 (1 credit) or  Honors Algebra 2 (1 credit) or Fundamentals of Algebra 2A and 2B (2 credits)
  • Senior Math OR Math Elective (1 credit)
*High school math credits may be earned in middle school, but 4 credits must still be earned in high school
*A grade earned in middle school will be calculated into the high school GPA
*A full year of math or math-related credit must be taken during the final year of high school
Physical Education (1 credit):
  • Intro to Physical P.E. - 0.5 credit
  • P.E. elective - 0.5 credit
Health (0.5 credits)
World Language (2 credits)
*These credits can be earned in middle school.
*Credits can be from two different languages.
*The second credit may be substituted with an additional VPAA credit. 

Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts (VPAA) (1 credit)

*Applied Arts include courses in Business, Life Skills, and Industrial Career and Technical Technology Departments.

MINIMUM CREDITS REQUIRED INCLUDING THE COURSES ABOVE: 22.5 CREDITS

Online Learning Experience:
A 20-hour online learning experience is required for graduation. This is a non-credit requirement.  
The Online Learning Experience is embedded into the middle school and high school experience.

State Assessment Program:
Complete participation in the State Assessment Program (M-STEP) is required for graduation.
